I would like to share my opinion on the car, why the choice fell on this model, what is being compared, and tested in the process of choosing what he is to operate, what to expect the potential buyer and what to avoid.

Perhaps I’ll start with, what is actually in the modern world. Again a reference to the history of the brand, because for the first time, the term SUV (Sport Utility Vehichle) was applied to the Subaru Forester, which acted as a hybrid of the statement of van and SUV. Today, this term implies only «Parquet appearance» and fiction in the form of an electronic pseudo-wheel-drive (Rav4) or simulations change settings of transmission (Peugeot 3008). Outback is not a SUV, because it has like a real drive, and quite suitable for off-road body kit from the protective plastic, and very impressive ground clearance (factors that in the category of SUVs are almost absent). As for the classical notion of the universal — Yes, the car passport is universal, but in my understanding, a universal it is not. Outback is the car that is a station wagon terrain, or (word game) is a «universal machine,» and this quality is exactly what for me personally and determined the choice of the car.

The car is very smooth and quiet to drive in town, riding on the highway is an absolute relaxation process (flow at 150 km/h is around 7-7.5 depending on the time of year and tires) and driving on a dirt track is just wacky sense of fun and desire to remember about rally times, and off-road driving is very real, only it is necessary to follow the angles of entry and exit, as this is the only weak spot. In summary — this machine is well and all can afford a lot. Let’s just say, if you really need a car for any occasion — then this is the perfect choice.

Now a little on certain aspects of the car, I have a maximum on the territory of Ukraine equipment ZO (the difference is in the skin of the cabin, electrogastrogram front seats, and audio system from Harman Cardon):

1) the Engine and transmission.

2) Chassis.

Now actually about why the choice fell on the Outback. The car I chose for a good six months, and in the process passed the test-drives of 42 different cars and models were tested in completely different conditions, in the period spring-summer. Used Peugeot 308 wagon in the database (1.6 diesel + mechanic), as I traveled, it was necessary to save on cost (consumption 4.2 diesel per 100 on the highway) and needed a large trunk. In the list of «needs» was the ride comfort, the availability of space in the boot, an adequate consumption of normal reserve power for overtaking on the track, and preferably in the format of the station wagon (Yes, I’m a freak on universals, not like the sedans). In the selection process have disappeared from almost all Germans (Golf is the same 308, only much more expensive, too expensive for the Tiguan small SUV, the AUDI has disappeared due to tsenovoy policy and costly maintenance, BMW of the last ten years do not think about the car, after level brand in the 90s). Total sample my first cars were: Skoda Superb (wagon), Opel Insignia, Volvo XC60, Volvo V90. Realizing the problem of our roads, and accepting the idea that maybe it’s time to look at station wagons, and SUVs, has decided to expand the list of cars, and began to test the Peugeot 3008, Nissan X-trail, Toyota Rav4. Peugeot the car is great, interior the i-cockpit is simply divine in terms of convenience, but the lack of AWD was for me the cornerstone of failure. Nissan surprised in a negative way (common Renault Koleos and the other one was better for less money), and Toyota (RAV4 hybrid) again showed themselves in a crumbling cabin and constant noise in completely strange places (who knows will understand, the Toyota many years the problem with the build quality and Shumka salon, although models 17-18 slowly get rid of this curse).

Many test drives later, I still remembered the existence of the Subaru, while a test drive was in early spring in the nasty weather with ice and Outback shook his qualities.

In the end, I came to the following list for consideration: Subaru Outback, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Ford edge and Toyota Khaylender.

Mitsubishi I ran in on the test drives more than once — and the roads and lack of roads, and on the wild off-road ride we had. Ford edge was a good car, it’s a big SUV with a bright (for a class) interior, good ride, huge trunk, excellent power… But huge consumption, unsuitable for such a colossus brakes and a fairly expensive service. And if the flow is still «fuck him», then brake really strained: even with my careful driving style and pre-braking, I felt the desire to push hard (maybe the nuance here is that in my 308 Peugeot brakes were fantastic, almost the best element of the machine). All these factors together and the price tag Ford is also eliminated.

About the Highlander also bad to say little, except that he has a very bad engine for our market (large volume, large flow, not such a big capacity), which is long overdue to change, and a price tag of 60 thousand. The Highlander is closer to the family minivan analogues with high traffic. A little something that was needed.

I bought the Outback, completely satisfied.
